Boom Guide
PETS
Important Advice For Pet Owners.
Number one rule for pet owners: if you love them, don’t bring them to Boom. Animals are not allowed at the festival!
It goes without saying that Boom is an intense environment of extreme climatic conditions, with lots of dust and a big, boom-bastic sound system.
Keep pets safe by leaving them at home with family and/or friends.
DOGS DON'T LIKE LOUD MUSIC
Dogs can detect sounds at a frequency range of approximately 67-45,000Hz. Compare this to humans, who hear within the frequency range of 64-23,000Hz.
It means they can hear sounds we cannot. So can you imagine what it would be like for them to hear the basslines of a psy forest track? We doubt your dog will show any appreciation for hi-tech either…
BE RESPONSIBLE
Animals are beautiful because of their ability to love us unconditionally. They provide mental, emotional, physical benefits, stress relief, entertainment, companionship and comfort. They can relieve depression, anxiety and even physical pain. They hold up their side of the bargain with all of this. So we must too by being responsible pet owners.
DEADLY DOG DISEASE
Temperatures across Boomland can soar up to 40 degree celsius, but it doesn’t stop there. In this region of the Iberian Peninsula, there are high rates of leishmaniasis - an illness which causes extreme pain and is deadly to pets.
Furthermore, the subspecies of the parasite leismania donovani can infect dogs, causing a form of disease called visceral leismaniasis.
Dogs serve as a reservoir of infection because the disease is transmitted between them and to people by sandflies.
ABANDONED DOGS ATTACKING BOOMERS
Whether you meant to do it or not, it is NOT COOL to abandon your dog. At previous editions of Boom, there have been many cases of abandoned dogs, leading to incidents where fellow Boomers were attacked by pets left alone and in stress. It’s not clever to bring your dog to Boom.
DON'T TAKE THE RISK
If you bring your dog to Boom and get caught, don’t take it personally when we escort you out of the festival.
DOGGY HOTEL
If you can’t find family or friends to take care of your pet, you can check your animal into one of the following doggy hotels. It’s got to be the most sensible and responsible thing you can do!
