Dear Boomers,

We’re reaching the end of the 2018 Gregorian calendar and wrapping things up as we prepare for the new year.

It’s been a memorable one, underscored in particular by the production of a special book, which encapsulates the roots and history of our epic gathering in numbers, stories and images.

Entitled Boom Festival 20 Years: A Visual and Oral History, the 356 page compilation of testimonies, photographs, flyer art imagery, and graphic design illustration was made possible thanks to a collaboration with a number of co-creators from around the world.

The book tells the compelling story of Boom, starting with an essay, which compares contemporary festival culture with the ancient rites of Eleusis, before leaping forward to the 21st century. Told from 134 different perspectives, Boom’s birth and growth are documented by three distinct chapters, giving a deeper sense of context to each period: 1997-2000; 2002-2008; and 2010-today. The whole is illustrated by exclusive photographs, some of which have never been published before.
