BOOM 2018 ACCOMODATION & TRANSPORT

Dear Boomers,

We’re getting closer to take off and no doubt lots of you are taking the first steps towards planning your journey to Boom.

Tipi, tent, truck or squat? Drive, bus, bike, train, fly, hitchhike or teleport? The planning of such shenanigans has got to be one of the most fun and exciting parts of the Boom adventure.

To make things a bit easier, we’ve partnered up with various organisations who will not only help reduce our collective impact on the environment - but also provide a more comfortable and improved festival experience. This means you may not have to pack the kitchen sink afterall. Instead, you may want to think about some of the following…

CAMPING

Campsite

From setting up camp and meeting the neighbours, to making new friends and cooking up a storm at the community kitchen - everyday life is a big part of Boom. So it’s all here - which is why we strongly encourage Boomers to stay on site for the entire duration of the event.

You may also be interested to know that every camping area has been arranged to suit the different needs of a diverse crowd, making camping at Boom an inclusive experience. From families with babies to people wit h special needs - there are are options to accommodate Boomers from all walks of life.

By the way, just so you know: there is no VIP area at Boom. Every Boomer is unique - we are all Very Intergalactic People!

The Wanbli Tipi Camp is one of the options we’ve developed over several years. While the camp is sold out, there are other accommodation options that you can look into...

Cardboard Village

Cardboard Village makes its debut appearance at Boom this year. No need to find a spot to pitch a tent, no need to even transport a tent! Cardboard tents and sleeping kits will be available instead.

These are eco-friendly alternatives to your regular tent. At the end of the event, the tents will be collected, cut into cardboard boxes and reused. Plus, they keep cool and darker for longer after the sun rises and are 100% waterproof!

Camping Material

It’s easy to forget stuff when there’s so much to carry, so for the first time ever there is also an onsite shop for renting camping materials. You can reserve such materials in advance and pick them up directly at the festival. More details right HERE.

COLLECTIVE TRANSPORT

Public transport is an optimal way of travelling to Boom as it helps decrease your carbon footprint and makes the journey more sociable and fun. So here are a few options for planning the journey ahead:

Car sharing: Check out Boom’s liftshare page HERE to either find or offer a lift. This is not only a top chance to meet great new friends but also reduce your carbon footprint.

The Official Boom Bus: The bus will depart from Lisbon and Madrid Airports. It will also depart from various points in France, Belgium and Switzerland - arriving directly to Boomland one day before gates open.

Good news: there are still some tickets for the Boom Bus departing from Madrid Airport and going to Boomland on the 21st July. There are also still tickets available for the 22nd from both Madrid and Lisbon airports.

When you got your Boom Festival ticket, you should have received a voucher to acquire a Boom Bus ticket. If this is not the case or if you are experiencing difficulties with acquiring a Boom Bus ticket, please email us HERE.

International Ground Transportation: Buses travel daily from various European destinations right into Castelo Branco (Portugal). Boomers will get a 15 percent discount when using voucher code: ‘BOOMFESTIVAL’.

Some Buses to Castelo Branco will also be departing from various cities in the North of Portugal. These include: Braga, Famalicão, Porto and Guarda.

Shuttle Castelo Branco to Boomland: When you get to Castelo Branco, a bus will pick up and deliver you direct to Boomland - and vice-versa!

So good luck with your shenanigans as you plan your journey to Boom! Have fun and remember it’s not just about the destination, but the journey too. We’re always here for you, so if you’ve got any questions, ping us an email to: [email protected].

With Love and Gratitude,
Boom Team
