RADICAL CARE ON THE DANCEFLOOR: RISK REDUCTION IN THE QUEER PARTY SCENE

Panel by Mar Cunha and Miguel Martinho

How do we take care of each other on the dancefloor and beyond? What is risk reduction? What are its founding principles and values?

In recent years the queer party scene has developed this aspect of community-led care into a very inspiring practice. Nowadays it fully bloomed into a model for many other party scenes that wish to provide a judgement-free full-spectrum care, which include emergencies connected to substances but also explores consent, boundaries and conflict de-escalation.

Join Mar Cunha and Miguel Martinho to hear about the Ravers’ Care Corner, a collaboration between Kosmicare and Planeta Manas, a DIY queer feminist venue in Lisbon.

Together we will reflect on the role of self-organised risk reduction in queer environments, and how radical love can manifest through community care.

After the talk there will be a presentation on Kosmicare's services in Boom Festival this year, including the drug checking service, the InfoHub and the psychedelic emergency support.
