LOVE AND THE RADICALLY "OTHER": INSIGHTS FROM A DMT TRIAL

Talk by Christopher Timmermann

DMT experiences can change strongly held worldviews and promote ecological behaviours. This is in large part due to (1) encounters with entities which manifest in varied and unexpected forms, and (2) experiencing alternate dimensions and cosmologies that feel real. Both types of experiences concern an undeniable encounter with the Other.

Love, according to some, consists in the radical recognition of the Other, while also acknowledging the crucial relevance of reciprocity and interconnectedness of all life as forms of love.

Join psychedelic researcher Christopher Timmermann in this talk. Drawing on eight years of DMT research in Imperial College, London, we will explore whether these encounters with the Other can be understood as a neuroscience and a phenomenology of Love, with implications in wellbeing and nature connectedness.
