There are several ways of getting to Boom and it doesn’t need to cost the earth. Here, we have highlighted three options: Liftshare for those ready for a road trip; cycling for people up for an adventure, and bus for groups and individuals excited about sharing the journey with friends new and old.
Probably THE most convenient way of getting to Boom. Simply get to your Boom Bus Stop in Portugal, Spain, Switzerland or France, get on the bus and enjoy the luxury of getting transported straight to the festival.
It’s hassle-free, fun, cheap and prevents CO2 emissions.
ECO FACTS 2018:
230 Boom Buses were available for use
213 of these helped ferry Boomers to and from the festival
This reduction contributed to the prevention of further CO2 emissions
A total 10,176 Boomers made use of the Boom Bus service
More information about the Boom Bus, including Boom Bus stop locations, ticket information and schedules can be found right here.
Belgian Boomers Joost and Stan helped to kickstart the Boom by Bike project when they got in touch to say they planned to cycle to the festival.
It took them 40 days to cycle 2,700 km to get here, telling us on arrival: “Everyone should do this!”
Inspired by their positivity and sense of adventure, we took their word for it and launched Boom by Bike in 2010. It became another aspect of the festival’s ethos to promote a more conscious, ecological and fun way to get here.
Over the last decade, we have had the honour of documenting and sharing the stories of countless Boomers who felt inspired to bike it here too.
In 2020, we are proud to welcome bikers to the Boom Bike Village for the third edition running! Come along to enjoy an engaging program of inspiring talks and stories by cyclists from around the world.
ECO FACTS 2018:
59 registers Boomcyclists biked it to Boom
They arrived from 13 different countries
Together they cycled a combined total of 75,873 km
Many others reached out via email and joined us at the Bike Village
In order to reduce levels of CO2 and the number of cars on-site, we have teamed up with the wonderful people at Liftshare, a service which links drivers with passengers.
This means Boomers can either offer a lift or request one to the festival, saving money, saving CO2 emissions and making new friends along the way, all in one go.
